A balanced diet can give the body the right amount of nutrients that it needs so that it could function properly. In order to get the proper nutrition, you need to consume the right amount of calories every day. The calories come from fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, whole grains, lean proteins, legumes, and others. The amount of calories that a food contains is also the measurement of energy that is stored in the food. Naturally, the body uses calories from the food when it is breathing, thinking, walking or doing any other functions. Here are some examples of the age range and how many calories can be taken:

Girls from 9 to 13 years: 1,400 to 1,600 calories

Boys from 9 to 13 years: 1,600 to 2,000 calories

Active women from 14 to 30 years: 2,400 calories

Active men from 14 to 30 years: 2,800 to 3,200 calories

Active men and women over 30 years: 2,000 to 3,000 calories
